About Brendan Carney
Founder & Principal

Brendan Carney studied fine art at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where he earned his BFA, before completing his MFA at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. His formation at both institutions gave him an unusually broad fluency — conceptual rigor alongside exacting visual craft — that would define everything that followed.

Before founding Supreme Digital, Brendan worked directly with some of the most consequential figures in contemporary art. As an assistant and photo retoucher, he collaborated with artists spanning the full arc of conceptual and post-studio practice, from Joseph Kosuth to Jeff Koons. This hands-on apprenticeship inside the production of major art — understanding not just how images look, but how they mean — became the foundation for a practice that is genuinely singular in the field.

In 2008, Brendan founded Supreme Digital Inc., bringing together his art world experience and technical mastery under one roof. The studio quickly became a trusted partner to some of the most demanding voices in contemporary art and culture. Since founding Supreme, he has been fortunate to collaborate on projects with artists including Bjarne Melgaard, Wade Guyton, Micheline Thomas, and Rashid Johnson, among many others, as well as institutions of the caliber of the Whitney Museum, Printed Matter, BAM, and the NYC Ballet.

Beyond his work at Supreme Digital, Brendan maintains an active practice as a fine artist and curator, exhibiting his own work and contributing to the broader artistic community he has spent his career serving. This dual life — practitioner and maker — means every client engagement at Supreme is informed by a perspective that is genuinely from inside the world of art.
